#479: Under new management – again!

My dearest friends, it is with delight that this is the last time I shall ever type my musings from the dusty chaos of the curates study. My bag is packed and I am very much looking forward to my summer with one of our churchwardens, Peter Wells. For August, I shall live a life of mousely luxury, enjoying the latest technology, the finest wine and the smelliest cheese as I bring you all the parish news. Cara is off for most of August as they move house, so please send all the things I might have missed, which is not much because I am a very hard working and diligent mouse, but just in case, please direct any news, photos, recommendations, events etc from now on to peter.wells@spauls.co.uk

P.S. I might miss her a little, but don’t tell her. Cara did allow me to nibble cheese and biscuits whilst I typed, so a lot of those crumbs are mine. #SorryNotSorry

This Sunday

Our 9.30am service at St Paul’s is a Parish Mass with baptism, which will be lovely. Then there are services at 10am at Woosehill and 11am at St Nick’s. A reminder that the choir at St Paul’s are having a very well deserved break, though you will find many of them in the congregation, in mufty. Try and spot as many as you can.

Then in the afternonn at 3pm there is a Taize service at St Nick’s, Emmbrook Village Hall, followed by tea and cake. Do go along and worship with the reflective and meditative Taize chants, especially give it a go if you’ve never been before.

Please contact Mary (mary.cassidy@spauls.org.uk ) if you could offer to help on the rota or produce a cake or scones or tray bake (mmm .. Bertie drooling over the idea of gooey chocolate brownies) or fresh cookies …

Ride and Stride 2025

It’s not long now before this year’s Ride & Stride Day to raise money for Berkshire Historic Churches Trust

This year it will take place on Saturday 13th September.

We need:

PARTICIPANTS – Could you walk, ride or cycle between some churches in Wokingham, Reading or anywhere else in our county? You can do as few or as many as you like. It is a great opportunity to visit some of the churches in and beyond our area.

WELCOMERS – Anyone who has participated knows that it is nice to be greeted when you arrive at a church and to have someone to speak to there. Could you help by spending an hour in St Paul’s on the day to welcome any visitors to our church?

SPONSORS – If you cannot participate, please sponsor the people Riding & Striding for St Paul’s. As well as raising money for the Berkshire Historic Churches Trust, half of the money raised is returned to St Pauls.

It would be really good to have some new cyclists taking part from St Paul’s. So, if you have a bike, please think about being a participant. A number of other churches organise groups of walkers who visit churches together, rather than taking part as individuals, and a few have a cycle group as well.

If you can take part as a Rider or Strider (either on your own or as part of a group),  or be in the church as a Welcomer, please speak to, or contact, Andrew Harte (email: rideandstride@spauls.org.uk)

Well done on getting to the end, and a final reminder, please now send Bertie info to Peter Wells, not Cara. Have a great summer and God bless.

Cara
