#480 Normal service will be resumed shortly

Hello everyone. Change of office, but not down hearted. I have completed the move of my trusty keyboard and am now sharing the office with Peter (I still let him use a corner of the desk). I had an initial issue with the keyboard with the B key getting stuck. I nearly had a newsletter that consisted entirely of a swarm of Bs. Peter called on the services of the Wokingham Repair Café and we are back to normal again.

Talking of getting back to normal, you can have too much of a good thing, but it looks as though summer is also getting back to normal with grey skies, more comfortable temperatures and hopefully a bit of rain. It is pouring outside while I type this missive, but I am happily in the dry and replete after finishing off a baked camambert with bread and apple (I can see this new location working out very well).

So, let’s get on with this week’s news….

Congratulations to Fr Sam and Pinky!

Fr Sam and Pinky will be getting maried this weekend and the whole Parish sends their Best wishes, Prayers, and Congratulations for this happy occasion!!!

This Sunday

We shall be having the usual 8:00 BCP Mass and 9:30 Parish Mass on Sunday, both celebrated by Rev’d John Edwards who is always a very welcome visitor. The St Nick’s service at 11:00 will be taken by Becky Medlicott, and there is the usual service at 10:00 at Woosehill. So, all in all, a very full Sunday morning, with plenty of choice.

Don’t forget that the choir are now taking their summer break so please sing extra loud at the 9:30 (in case I have overslept).

At the 9:30 service we will hear Chris playing Meditation on ‘Carlisle’ by Charles Callahan and Water-Colour (from Three Miniatures) by Norman Cocker before the service, Air from Suite no. 3 in D major (BWV 1068) by Johann Sebastian Bach during communion, and Trumpet Tune in D major by Philip C. Tordoff at the end of the service.

Decorating the Rectory

I managed to get a quick interview with Fr Sam last week and he told me that he would like to thank all the wonderful parishioners who have been helping to decorate the Rectory ready for him to move in with Pinky after their honeymoon. He is pleased with the results of the 3 days last week when he was at the Rectory, where a lot was acheived and he had the opportunity to meet some of you in person. He is looking forward to joining us on the 28th August, and the service on Sunday 31st August when all three churches will come together for the service led by Fr Sam and Cara.

Service on 28th August

You probably don’t need a reminder, but just to mention that on Thursday 28th August we will be welcoming Fr Sam and Pinky to the Parish in the service for Fr Sam’s Institution and Induction. At the same time, we say goodbye and hello to Cara as she completes her curacy at St Paul’s and is licensed in the service as Associate Minister for Woosehill.

The Service will be conducted by Bishop Mary, the Bishop of Reading, with a host of dignitaries and guests from other churches and faith groups. The service will include a British Sign Language interpreter who will sign from the front of church to help any deaf members of the congregation.

Lumos Concert

Reminder that Lumos will be holding another candlelit concert at St Paul’s on Saturday 9th August:

This link will take you to their booking page

Organ Recital

The following weekend our own Chris Cipkin will be holding an Organ Recital on Sunday 17th August

Don’t forget that while I am working from Peter’s establishment you need to send any articles for my newsletter to peter.wells@spauls.co.uk
