#443: Autumn Days and the grass is jewelled…
Bertie here, and I’m back. Turns out being a musician didn’t really suit me, but I have no time to talk about that now, I have a suitcase to unpack and so much news to catch you up on!
This Sunday
The 9.30am at St Paul’s sees the return of J Club, and is also the bag blessing ready for the new school year. Bring your school bags, preschool bags, nursery bags, uni bags, work bags, satchesl, laptop bag etc! Then there is a 10am service at Woosehill, and the 11am service at St Nick’s, where we are also blessing bags.

For those going to the Cathedral, the service will take place in the cross aisle and everyone should have a decent view. There are no reserved seats, so please be guided by the vergers, and there will be drinks and nibbles afterwards.
We are hoping to livestream the service at Woosehill Church for those who would like to watch it together. The service will be on the Cathedrals YouTube, and the link will be available next week – currently this Sunday’s is there. Recordings are usually only left on the website for 24 hours.

Could you provide accommodation in Wokingham Town for a Soulscape Intern?
An 18 year old Christian young woman is coming from Weymouth to Wokingham to work as an intern for local Christian schools charity Soulscape, but is in urgent need of some accommodation!
She is hoping to get a part time job and is happy to contribute to living costs. She is also able to cook and has no dietary requirements. She does not drive so will be using public transport or walking, so somewhere close to town would be desirable.
She is planning to serve with Soulscape from September through to July. Might you be able to give her a room, for all or part of that period?

Ride and Stride
Saturday 14th September is Ride & Stride Day, to raise money for Berkshire Historic Churches Trust.
If you would like to support this, please pledge to give some money by signing the sponsorship form. I will be at the back of the church with the sponsorship form after the 9:30 Service on Sunday 8th September.
This will be the last chance to sponsor me before the event. You can give me cash straight away, or after the 14th, or you can pay by BACS to the church account with the reference of “Ride n Stride”.

Tuesday Bible Study
The Tuesday evening Zoom bible study restarts on the 10th September. Cara will be introducing us to Paul’s letter to the Romans. All are welcome. Please bring a Bible along with you. Romans is full of wisdom and hope and truth, but also full of the longest sentences ever and is quite hard to read because of this! This Bible study should help us look more deeply into Romans and ultimately get more out of it when we read it or hear it in church.

Baptism Bears
We have a large number of knitted baptism bears that require stitching up, stuffing and face details being added. If anyone can help to make up half a dozen of these bears please contact Gill Wilkins. The wool and stuffing will be provided.
