Fr Sam’s Desert Island Discs

On Thursday 5th March The Mother’s Union invited Fr Sam to tell them about hgis Desert Island Discs. This is the video taken of that occasion (Due to copyright reasons this video is not available in Russia).
Fr Sam chose 8 pieces of music:
- J.S. Bach: Christmas Oratorio, BWV 248, Pt. 1 “For the First Day of Christmas”: No. 1, Jauchzet, frohlocket, auf, preiset die Tage – Monteverdi Choir
- Thunder Road – Bruce Sprinsteen
- Verdi: Rigoletto, Act III: Bella filia dell’amore – Sherrill Milnes, Huguette Tourangeau, Joan Sutherland, Luciano Pavarotti and the London Symphony Orchestra with Richard Bonynge
- Hymn – Light’s Abode, Celestial Salem (feat. Rupert Gough) – Wells Cathedral Choir
- J.S. Bach: Organ Concerto in A Minor, BWV 593 (After Vivaldi, RV 522): I. [Allegro] – Karl Richter
- My Father’s House – Bruce Springsteen
- Arise and Eat – Choir of St Mary’s Bourne Street
- Ralph Vaughan Williams: 5 Mystical Songs: No. 5, Antiphon (feat. John Shirley-Quirk – Choir of King’s College, Cambridge

He also chose the novel Gaudy Night by Dorothy L Sayers. Part of the Lord Peter Wimsey series, set in a Women’s College in Oxford.
The item he chose was the components to build a computer, ignoring the issues of not being allowed to connect to the internet, and not having any power (unless he can also have a solar panel!).
