#397: the number of cheeses Bertie has tried in the last fortnight

It has been a good weekend in the parish, Bertie your local correspondent scribbles. It was good to have people from Soulscape to lead the sermon at St Paul’s and the auction featured no cheese at all so I didn’t feel obliged to have to sell of my Great-Aunt Beathering’s pearls to bid for it, so that was a definite result. And then there was tasty cheesecake at the excellent Harvest Lunch. I have been staring over Lyn’s shoulder all morning trying to read his calculations while only allowing myself to yawn quietly and I don’t know yet how much was raised because we have to wait to hear a definite answer from the card-reader company- but it was a very successful weekend and huge thanks to everyone involved, especially the Social Committee and everyone who helpd out on Sunday. Here is what else I have been finding out…

This Coming Sunday

We have an 8am this Sunday, which is being taken by Becky Medlicott from All Sts, and then services at 9.30, 10 and 11 as usual. Richard is not around because he is running the Royal Parks Half-Marathon to raise money for Macmillan’s Cancer Care. If anyone would like to sponsor him then his page is here: Richard Lamey is fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support (justgiving.com)

There are prayers every Wednesday at 10.30 but the next House Mass is on the 11th of October.

Important Announcement

Wokingham Borough Council are consulting on the future of the Borough, what we value and what we would like to keep. Responses need to be in by the 6th of November and filling things in online is the easiest way to reply- if you can read an email from Bertie then you have all of the tech skills you need in order to be able to fill in the online form. Do reply and do tell your friends. We want as many replies as possible in order to be able to have confidence in what we are being told by the people of the Borough.
