#470: Bertie’s Back!

Ah, my beloved keyboard, how I’ve missed you! And you lovely readers too…maybe I’ve missed you lot a bit too.

My friends, it seems like an absolute age since I’ve had to gather up all the parish information for you to digest. And speaking of digestion, I’m very glad I gave up reporting for lent instead of cheese, that would have been very difficult indeed. Now you come to mention it, I haven’t had cheese in a while and typing is hungry work, let me just toddle off and grab a wee morsel…

This Sunday

We have our 8am BCP at St Paul’s, follwed by the 9.30am Mass. The Revd Helen Charlton is taking these for us, some of you may remember her from a couple of months ago when she took the 8am and preached at the 9.30am. She is a DDO in Oxford Diocese – Diocescan Director of Ordinands – and helps those who are exploring their vocation to ministry. Do speak to her afterwards about that if you’re interested.

We also have a 10am service at Woosehill and 11am Eucharist at St Nick’s.

Our music and readings for this week are:

Before: Peeters – Chorus novæ Jerusalem (op. 76, no. 5)
Halls – Christchurch (From Hymn Tune Suite)
Hymns: 149, 141, 387, 398
Readings: Acts 9.1 to end, John 21.1-19
Communion: Wood (arr.) – This joyful Eastertide
After: Bullard – Postlude on Vruechten

Tony Eggleston’s Funeral

Tony Eggleston’s funeral will take place at St Paul’s on Thursday 8th May at 11am.
The congregation is invited to Cantley House Hotel after the service – please let Louise in the office know if you are planning to go along so that they know how
many to cater for. Many thanks.

Christian Aid Coffee Morning

Just a reminder that the coffee morning for Christian Aid on Saturday 10th May is fast approaching, so we would appreciate any contributions to the stalls as soon as possible – we particularly need items for the tombola. Plants may be brought on the day from 10.15am but, if you are unable to do so, please let me know and I will collect them beforehand.
The Social Committee would also welcome donations of cake for refreshments at the Coffee Morning. Please contact Trish Gatland for delivery or bring on the
morning of 10th May.
Our two hours of fun starts from 10.45am and we look forward to welcoming you on the day! Teri Austen

Soulscape Quiz
