#472: Who needs a roof anyway?

My dear friends, do you know how impossible it is to find a hard hat in mouse size? I tried on a Barbie horse hiding hemet but it wasn’t quite the right fit, so what am I to do? You see I so desperately wanted to help with the roof repairs (more info on that below) and if I’m being completely honest, I’m not entirely sure how you’re all going to manage the work without me. I shall simply have to find myself a mini clipboard and make sure I’m in charge that way instead. Never fear, Bertie is on the case!
Services coming up
This Sunday, 25th, we have a 9.30am Eucharist at St Paul’s, 10am at Woosehill, and 11am at St Nick’s. Then we celebrate Ascension Day on Thursday 29th at 8pm at St Paul’s. If you haven’t ever been then maybe this is the year to come along? The Revd Becky Medlicott is taking the service for us, and it will great to welcome her back.
Then on 1st June we have an 8am BCP, 9.30am Eucharist, 10am at Woosehill and 11am at St Nick’s.
Ceiling Repair
Peter sends this message, and as we already know Bertie will be there with his clipboard, anyone willing and able to help, and also rescue Peter and Nigel from Bertie, please let him know!
Next week we will be working on the ceiling in church, to patch up the areas that have fallen down and generally tidy up the nave roof.
We are looking for volunteers to help us in a number of areas. This Saturday (24th) we need to loosen some of the pews so that they can be moved to accommodate a vertical platform that will be used to work on the ceiling. We will then need help moving the pews on Sunday (25th) afternoon ready to start work on Monday (26th) . From Monday to Wednesday we will need help to shift the vertical platform, to cut boards to the right size to fix into the ceiling, and to assist in lifting the boards in place. On Wednesday and Thursday we will need more help to shift the pews back into their positions. Anyone who can help on any of the days, any time from 8:00am to around 4:00pm, please contact myself or Nigel Traylor and provide your mobile number so that we can coordinate all of the volunteers on WhatsApp. Thanks. Model of St Paul’s at St Paul’s, 25th May
This Sunday, there will be a model railway in the Parish Rooms after the service, including a model of St Paul’s church! This is being brought to us by The Berkshire N gauge group, who have been working on creating a faithful reproduction of Wokingham, set in the 1960’s. A large amount of effort has gone into historical accuracy, including creating the scale version of St Pauls church using modern 3D imaging and printing techniques.
The layout is a work in progress, and they still need images to help create true to life buildings, particularly to the west of the station. If anyone has any old photographs or film from the 1970’s and earlier, do please bring them along for them to look at!
There’s also a train, but you’ll have to come along to see what that is!
Upcoming Events
An updated version of the leaflet in church for you to pop in your calendars!
