#473 Everything’s going up!

And not just prices!.

I had intended to pack my bags and hitch a ride for a holiday with Mthr Cara this week, but now I am in two minds having learnt that all the action will be in the Church for the next few days. Your roving reporter, ever on the trail of a good story has been having a chat with Peter and Nigel about the huge mechanical monster which appeared in church this weekend. Apparently it will be capable of taking the two of them right up to the top of the nave ceiling where they intend to repair the areas of fallen plaster, and cracks in other sections. They are hoping to get this completed by Thursday so I may stay to catch some interesting snaps and stories of the venture.

I have this from Peter:

As announced last week, and repeated in the notices today, we will be making the repairs to the ceiling this week starting at 9:00am on monday morning (Ed: Peter had suggested starting earlier, but I pointed out that I like a bit of a lie in on a Bank Holiday Monday, so he has agreed to open the church at 9). I would like to ask anyone interested in helping with this project, cutting boards, measuring, moving the odd pew, or even supplying regular cups of coffee, to contact me (peter.wells@spauls.co.uk) so that we know who to expect. We will be starting at 9:00 each morning and are hoping to stop about 4:00pm, so please come along whenever you are able. Your help will be much appreciated 😀

By the way. I managed to get quick look at the excellent railway layout, including the scale model of St Paul’s Church, in the Parish Rooms over coffee. Did anyone get any picture that we can share on the website, and in future Bertie emails?
