The choir sang for the Evensong service in Tewkesbury Abbey at 5pm on Saturday 1st October
Most of them travelled to Tewkesbury, with a number of members of the St Paul’s congregation in a coach, arriving around lunch time. After leaving their robes in the Abbey, everyone dispersed for lunch. Rehearsal was at 3:00. The acoustics in the Abbey are stunning, with the echo folding the music around you. Evensong was at 5:00 with the Choir singing the Sumsion in G Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis with the Reading Responses, and ‘Greater love hath no man’ by Ireland. After the service we all retired to a local hostelry for refreshments before returning home.
