#478: how many heatwaves is that now?

Hello my lovely friends, and a very warm welcome indeed to this weeks news. The curate was kind enough to let me come on retreat with her to St Katherine’s Parmoor, and I found a new friend waiting for me there. A little camera shy, but if you peek closely enough at the bottom right of the statue, there she is. She wouldn’t tell me her name, so I called her Millie.
This Sunday
We have the 8am BCP service at St Paul’s, followed by a 9.30am Mass. Also a 10am service at Woosehill and 11am communion at St Nick’s. Plus Choral Evensong at St Paul’s at 6.15pm which is the last in our series on the 5 Marks of Mission, where Mthr Julie will be preaching for us. She was our curate before Cara and so it will be great to welcome her back once more.
The music for this Sunday at St Paul’s is:
9:30 Mass
Organ Prelude: Aria (op. 51) – Peeters
Anthem: For the beauty of the earth – Rutter
Voluntary: Pastoral (Sonata no. 3, op. 88) – Rheinberger
Evensong
Organ Prelude: Siciliano for a High Ceremony – Howells
Canticles: Collegium Regale – Howells
Anthem: The spirit of the Lord – Elgar
Voluntary: Imperial March (op. 32) – Elgar
Coffee and Chat
A reminder that C & C will be held at Emmbrook Village Hall on 18th, 25th July and 1st August please. Timings 1.45 – 3.45pm. Because of the …
Art Exhibition
…which starts on 19th July and Mary Cassidy is still looking for volunteers to help …
On the Rota to serve tea/coffee etc, Saturday and Sunday afternoons are very empty, and there are several additional gaps in both weeks!
Very few cakes have been promised so far, which is a pity, as a good spread of yummy things to enjoy with a cuppa always increases the takings! (Remember, income from the refreshments goes straight into church funds).
Please contact Mary (mary.cassidy@spauls.org.uk ) if you could offer to help on the rota or produce a cake or scones or tray bake (mmm .. Bertie drooling over the idea of gooey chocolate brownies) or fresh cookies …
Sunshine for the walking group
Liz has sent in this fab picture, saying, “6 of us from the Walking Group had a lovely afternoon. Ice cream and ice lollies followed by a slow saunter at Dinton Pastures, sitting and resting in shady parts and taking in nature.”

Wedding thank you
Christine and Nigel have sent in this message after their beautiful wedding last Saturday:
“A very big thank you to everyone who was able to join us either in person or via live stream last Saturday
Your love and support and kind wishes were very much appreciated, and we were just so happy to share our day with you.
Our only regret is we ate all the cheese so hopefully Bertie will not nibble at our ankles when we are next in church”

Future Choral Evensong Dates
To add to your diary, lest they slip by unnoticed! Our next sermon series is continuing the theme of mission, looking at the 3 areas we identified in our parish profile.
