#393- which is a genuine maths calculation failing to get itself lined up properly

I had a super weekend, welcoming people to Church and showing them round and accepting cheesy tributes. I did most of the work but I let Colin and Mary help out with tours and displays. I even get to go around the area in Lawrence’s wicker basket and Andrew’s jacket pocket. So thrilling! Thank you to everyone who gave up their time over the weekend for Ride and Stride/ Heritage Weekend- it was very much appreciated. To the News…

This Coming Weekend

It is a Churchyard Weekend so there will be lots of things to get involved with- if you do have a bit of spare time at the moment or would like to do something to help out then coming along on a Sunday is a great way of ticking both boxes. Speak to Andy Clark or Louise Cole for more information.

There are services at 9.30, 10 and 11- and then a conversation about the worship pattern at St Nick’s over coffee there- and in the evening we have Choral Evensong with Laura Wheatley Downs (Vicar of Crowthorne and Associate Area Dean) preaching on the Gospel story behind the icon. Excellent music, refreshments, inspiring sermon- what’s not to like? 6.15pm. And the sermon will be outstanding, raising the bar to a level the parish clergy team are currently describing as worryingly high.

Participating in God’s Mission– free Diocesan courses and material
Our new going deeper course – The Story of Scripture – launches in October. The course is part of our new learning hub and free to use for anyone living or worshipping in the Oxford Diocese. Watch this film to find out more.     New course: The Story of Scripture The story of the Bible is fundamentally about how God created us, how things have gone wrong, and how God faithfully throughout human history has called people back into relationship with him.

This going deeper course on learn.oxford.anglican.org is designed to help you get a firmer handle on that big story through the use of videos, questions, and quizzes. This course can be completed on your own, or as part of a small group. Over six units, you’ll open your Bible, gain a deeper understanding of what God was doing throughout the pages of Scripture and how God is calling you to join in that same story.

You’ll work at home at your own pace and at a time that suits you with interactive digital resources from Dr Andy Angel. The materials are also suitable for clergy, LLMs and home group leaders to offer in a small group format.

The Story of Scripture launches in October 2023. It will take around 15 hours to complete and can be started at any time during the year.

Register here, or click the button below, before mid October for immediate access to the course materials as soon as they are launched and we’ll be back in touch with links and all that you need to get started.
