#410: by the time I’d got my sledge all of the snow had vanished…

Hello, dear friends- Bertie is here, back with all of the news you need and a good amount you possibly don’t.

This Sunday

Services at 8, 9.30, 10 and 11 as usual on a 2nd Sunday of the month- and don’t forget the parish lunch. 12.30 for a 1pm start. Email Louise in the office if you would like to book a place- and if cost is an issue, please speak to Richard and he can sort things out in confidence. We would never want the price of anything to do with Church to put anyone off coming.

News and Forthcoming Things

5/8s starts back on Monday at 5pm- open to everyone in School Years 5 to 9 inclusive and meeting every fortnight from the 15th of Jan- email Richard if you need any more details. It lasts 45 mins and is warm and fun and supportive.

Monday night is the next meeting of the PCC. The three main items on the Agenda are deciding whether to approve the use of the blessings of same-sex relationships, the possible purchase through sponsorship of new Hymnbooks for St Paul’s (the Revised English Hymnal) and approving the budget for 2024- which looks to be a deficit budget, which is obviously something we are going to have to address very seriously. Watch this space for more information!

The next sessions of the Online Bible Study starts on Tuesday night at 7.15pm, with a series on the Gospel of Mark. Fr Richard is leading the first session and everyone is welcome- Zoom Meeting ID 838 7693 1293, Passcode 254711

The next Parish Quiet Day is on Saturday the 24th of Feb, at St James’, Finchampstead- and more details will be available soon. Save the date!

Other Items of Import

January is a really good time for people to look around and think about what you want to do and how to rebalance things. In particular, if there is anything you have sometimes thought you would like to get involved with do speak to Richard to find out more information- rector@spauls.co.uk

We would always much rather start with what it is that you feel drawn to or interested in- but in order to start your thoughts flowing, we would love to have more people to help lead J-Club on a Sunday morning and to serve- and to lead prayers and help with coffee- and we would also love to have some more people to help talk to Year 7s at the Holt on a Wednesday lunchtime. Do think about it and let me know!

We are also collecting crochet hooks and oddments of wool for the Lounge at The Holt on a Wednesday- can you deliver them to Louise in the office? Thanks.

Also, Come and See is an excellent Diocesan resource which is brought out by Bishop Steven every year. Do look it up on the Diocesan website- we will be encouraging each other to sign up to receive daily emails and resources because it is a helpful and rich way of keeping the holy season of Lent.

Why not sign up as a prayer group, as a friend, as a Tithings Group, and experience and relish it together?
